Spinal Cord Society, Bindloss Chapter Annual Golf Tournament raises $1600
The second annual Fun Golf Tournament of the Spinal Cord Society, Bindloss Chapter turned out to be as successful as our first. In spite of the wind and ominous looking clouds, 54 golfers turned up on Monday morning, June 19, ready to have fun and maybe even win a prize. Judging by the hoots, hollers and shouts of laughter echoing around the course, everyone had a good time.

A few golfers were startled by the manure like golf balls on hole 4; and putting with a branding iron and pool cue on holes 6 and 15 brought lots of kidding and laughter. The cane driver on hole 13 didn’t slow down some golfers who managed to drive some pretty long shots.

Golfing was a pleasure for the course was in excellent condition, a real credit to Brian Oates and his helpers.
The steak supper put on by the inside staff was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by the hungry golfers. We’d like to thank all the staff of the Oyen and District Golf Club for all their help in making the tournament a success.

After supper, winners of prizes were announced. The four top teams were:

3. Irvin Loran, Kathy Allen, Bob Staples.
4. Sam Edwards, Yvonne Olsen, Don Gilham.

We want to thank all the golfers for coming from Taber, Hilda, Burstall, Jenner, Buffalo, Oyen, Acadia Valley, Empress, and Bindloss.

Our tournament realized a profit of $1600.00 which will be sent to the Spinal Cord Society for research for a cure of spinal injuries.
